I hear you on the guilt.
I’m female and very turned on by being submissive. (Though I am not actively a Sub.)
In real life, I’m outspoken against misogyny and sexual objectification and assault. I’m currently studying the ways in which our* culture denies autonomy to people with female (and intersex, and, yes, even male) bodies.
In some ways, I feel like I’m betraying all the ideals that I hold dear that I want to be tied up or hit or ordered around.
But for me it comes down to this: What I pursue in private is entirely about my partner’s and my gratification. As long as we agree that we want none of it to show in our public lives (where it would add to a public culture of misogyny and female submission), I can overcome my guilt.
To OP: I don’t know if this is relevant to your situation, but I hope it can help. I’ve spent about half my life secretly wallowing in guilt and shame over my private sexual fantasies because I called myself feminist and activist in public. Now I call myself those things because I don’t think that anyone should be ashamed over their sexuality.
